Welcome back everyone! I am here to update you!

In class we worked on a project, this project was a music marketing campaign. In this project we worked in groups and I worked with Amanda Smale and Sophie Solarana! In this project we had to create a band/artist and be able to market them. My group and I created a band named The Void, this band had lyrics and meaningful music. The Void can be described as a band that creates music to make a change and bring awareness to issues currently occurring. Other than just creating The Void we had to come up with ideas on how we will be distributing & marketing them.

Before creating our band, we had to do some research. The research done for this project was on the company RCA records. We gathered information on the band the Weathers and Foo Fighters. We researched these two bands to be able to see how they market themselves, along with there distribution techniques. With the information we researched we were able to see the steps and process they took to become successful. From meet and greets at guitar stores to collabing with other artists. The research allowed us to see the process and how they have grown, through marketing and distributing.

When figuring out how to market our band we had to be reasonable, our band is not well known and has to start off small. To market our band we are playing at local charity events, booking events at local bars and clubs, staying active on our social media’s, and meeting up with fans. Our most effective way of marketing at the moment would be performing at local areas. This is helping us build up our fan base, in a reasonable way.

By doing this project I learned that before growing big we need to see it as a business and focus on the target audience. We also need to focus on socioeconomic status. I also learned how music videos are different and having different factors within them.
