Happy Happy Sunday,

Representation

There are so many different kinds of relationships. Although I feel that relationships in movies are often false in a way. I’m here to describe the high school relationships that are represented in the media. In movies for example you always have a nerd (unpopular) character fall in love with the (popular) character and they end up happily ever after. The media shows so many different scenarios were this exact story line occurs and they all end up happy together in the end.

A media that proves this representation would be the movie to all the boys I’ve loved before, in this movie we have a girl who was unnoticed by this popular guy. It first started off when Lara got her love letters exposed, she wrote her love letters to all her past crushes. Her crush Josh ends up getting one of these letters and finds himself confronting her. Before you know it they start getting along and the movie ends up with them in love. I truly believe that all of these movies have the same story line.

Another media representation would be the movie Sierra Burgess Is a Loser. This movie is about a named Sierra who ends up talking to the popular football player. But the only reason why he is responding back to her is because of a mistaken identity. This boy ends up falling in love with Sierra yet he doesn’t know who she truly is. The mistaken identity leads him to think she’s is a extremely gorgeous blond model, which is not who she is behind the screen. At the end up the movie Sierra ends up coming out for who she actually is and despite of her looks he still falls in love and they end up happy.

This representation truly bothers me, in reality the (popular) guys would never noticed an (unpopular) girls, all of these romantic movies end with a happy ending. I feel that this media representation gives the wrong idea and is completely false. I feel the truth of young love and reality is not shown. I think it’s much deeper than shown in the media or on a screen.False hope is given to young girls, these girls who dream that this scenario would one day happened to them. In reality it almost never ends up this way.

As I’m going down the home stretch, some representation characteristics that I would retain are that no matter the social status, love doesn’t depend on how many people you know. You can love someone regardless of their skin color, religion, or popularity. I am going to challenge this representation by saying that some people do look at all of these characteristics. In reality people do care if you have money or you belong to a certain religion.

Hi everyone,

As we get closer to the aice media exam, I keep on brainstorming ideas and genres . The genre that I will be discussing about today would be romance, romance films target an audience like me, young women or even couples. I am very interested in romantic comedy, romantic comedy is a movie that handles love in a humorous way. I really enjoy romantic comedy because they have a good balance between romance and comedy. romantic movies could be so intense, yet I feel that romantic comedies are so open and fun. THis specific genre shows the true side of relationships unlike romantic movies.

In romantic movies/shows there are many different production that are used. To be specific romantic movies tend to use red a lot, red is the color of love, passion, and power. This is used in romantic movies to make things sexier, lighting and clothing will most likely be used often in this kinds of films. For romantic comedies it’s always demonstrating playfulness and a whole bunch of cheesy puns and gestures, which enhance the comedy. Romantic comedies tend to mock relationships, which brings out the comedy.

In the movie how to lose a guy in 10 days, you have a girl named Andie Andreson. Andie is trying to write a new piece for her job, she had no clue what to write until the idea of “how to lose a guy in 10 days” came to mind. Her editor loves this ideas, so Andie goes out of her way to find a guy to experiment with. Ben on the other hand who thinks that he can make anyway women fall in love with him, so he makes an agreement to make a women fall in love with him in 10 days. So when Andie and Ben meet each other both of their plans don’t succeed. Things don’t go as planned and end up having feelings for each other. This is a romantic comedy since she had to be annoying and clingy so Ben wouldn’t like her. Meanwhile Ben needed her to fall in love with him, so Ben stuck around meanwhile she was driving him crazy, Ben needed her to fall in love with him.

Another film that shows romantic comedy would be crazy, stupid, love. This movie is about a man named Carla and he is living his best life, until he finds out his wife Emily has been unloyal. Emily wants to divorce him, so then Cal is left single and over 40. He meets a guy named Jacob  up who convinces Cal to be a player and teaches him how to get ladies. This is a romantic comedy since it is a mixture of the romantic life he had with his wife, and then him trying to find other woman by the end of the movie.

Hi again,

I’m here to talk about a potential genre we will be using for our 2 minute introduction film. The genre that I began to research is horror. Horror films are created for a teenage audience, since they enjoy the thrill of watching these types of movies. There are many types of horror but the one we are going towards would be a horror film on isolation.

Although horror films have a lot to it, to make sure the audience is pleased with the film there are a lot of special techniques that are used. There are certain conventions of a horror film that are extremely necessary this includes dark lighting, isolation,a female victim, suspenseful music, slow pace of editing, and much more.

Some techniques used in horror films are lowkey-lighting, this creates tension due to its dark and mysterious atmosphere. Another technique used would be to underexpose, in most cases the killer/attacker is not completely shown (his/her face). However there are so many other techniques used for horror films, it’s almost an endless amount!

Furthermore horror is marketed in many different ways. One way that horror is marked would be through demand, the demand for a horror film is obviously higher during the month of October unlike February. October is known for a month of spookiness meanwhile in February you have a time for love, Valentine’s Day. Horror films can also be marked through social media, and in theater ads.

Hush was a movie that came out in 2016, and was produced by Jason Blum and Trevor Macy. This movie was about a deaf women who was isolated in the wood at her home, she had no phone or any connection with anyone around her. Then before you know it a masked killer shows up at her window. This movie is the kind of horror I would like to use in my 2 minute film.

Truth or dare was the next film I chose that embodies my genre of horror. Even though this film was nothing to do with isolation, it has to do with a group of young adults who come together to play a game of truth or dare. The game is run by a demon force and ends up with a lot of these group members dying. In a way I interpret this film with isolation because no one believes them. These group of kids were isolated in a way were no one believed them or helped them.
