Storyboard

Happy Happy Saturday my readers,

I hope that you all are enjoying your day on this beautiful sunny day. I know that I am happy on this beautiful day because Amanda and I found a film opening idea that we both love. Now that we have our idea, the next big step forward would definitely be creating our storyboard. A storyboard  is essential and will help us tremendously when filming. It allows us to be visual and plan out our steps efficiently.

The other day in aice media class my teacher had mentioned a website that allows you to be able to upload your drawings and this website would create an animation for you. Amanda and I had agreed on trying this out, but we have not planned our storyboard out yet. When we do have a storyboard on paper we will try to transform it onto the website https://storyboarders.com and if that website does not please us we will just post pictures on our blog of the physical storyboard.

In my blog tomorrow I will began to research what camera shots,angles,lighting, and ect is used in movies with super powers. I definitely will need to do some research on the shots we will include before creating a storyboard. I'll update you guys tomorrow!!

A new (amazing) idea

Good Morning  my readers,

This week has been horrible, we had the SAT on Wednesday,the quarter is ending soon, and I have been feeling pretty sick these last couple days. But the good news is that Amanda and I came up with a film opening idea, and the idea is so unique and original. There are a lot of changes that will be made it in the future but this is the idea we have for now.

Our film opening will start off by showing a women’s funeral (but we aren't sure how we will show the death of this lady) We then would be showing a young teenage boy and the viewers will later find out that this is his mother. As this boy gets back from his mother’s funeral the setting would be very dark and of course he is extremely sad. As this boy is grieving his mother's death he goes to the book shelf. As he is skimming his eyes finding what book to pick out, he spotted a family memory book. He then stares at this memory book when suddenly it falls off the shelf.

The boy was the confused as it fell off the shelf, because he did not know how it happened. The boy then sits down as he is flipping through the pages of the memory book when he finds a letter written from his mother. As he is reading the letter we will have a voice over of a women reading it. (we are not sure about the voice over yet) In this letter his mother talks about how her son (the boy himself) is very special and has a gift that he will discover. The boy seemed confused but kept the letter. As he is walking around his house he finds himself staring into objects and notices that they are moving. He thinks that he is hallucinating until he realizes is that his mother’s death passed down a gift which allows him to have the ability to move things around with his mind.

Amanda and I came up with this idea in class and I hope that we will stick with because its very different from many movies. It’s original and no one will have the idea of this. I know that Amanda and I will be able to produce an amazing film opening from this idea.

Super Powers

Hey friends,

Today Amanda and I had class together and we both decided that we need to find a better film opening idea. We want to make our film opening unique and different. So we started to brainstorm and it took us an entire hour to come up with the idea of a “superpower”. We really think that we are capable of making something amazing with this.

Meanwhile brainstorming we started to look at movies that we had watched that had to do with superpowers. And Amanda found the movie sky high that had to do with teenagers who got sent to a high school that worked with their superpowers. But then I kept researching to find other movies when I came open a movie that I absolutely loved when I was a kid. This movie is Lucy and I remember that this move was so unique and different from many other movies I watched. The way that her character is put out to the audience was incredible. I absolutely loved how in a way some people can see it as realistic and not completely fictional. This movie was so different because it did not include powers that could make you fly or even swing through a city with a spiderweb. The movie Lucy showed a different side of superpowers that worked with the mind, and this attracted many people. I overall would really love to work with a film opening that is unique and includes powers.

Amanda and I then agreed that we would work with this idea. As we came up with different ideas we shared it with our classmates and they told us that it sounds great but we would have to be able to pull it off. We are now 100% sure that we will be going this route. In my next blog posting I will be posting in more detail on our idea for the film opening...

Will this be our film opening?

I know I just wrote to you guys , and I did tell you guys that my next blog would be about our new film opening idea. So here I am writing to you guys about what we have come up with so far. Our new idea would have a teenage girl be the main character. The time this film will be taken is in the 1980s. This film opening will start off with an establishing shot of a girl walking through the hallways being the center of attention. As she’s walking through the hallways we will have some slow motion shots of her, along with her smiling at everyone around her. You can tell right away, all the other girls want to be her and all the guys want her. We then fade the sound of her heels meeting the hallway floor and voices of the students.

As we keep the main character at the center of attention we see that the people around her respect her and think very highly of her. Our next scene would then have the screen turn black and then the viewers will receive a flashback on the screen that says “one year before people started to recognize me”. We then would use the same shots as before showing the same girl. In this scene the girl is shown as an outcast, in many of the shots you will see that other people around her see her as gross. We will also include shots of her getting bullied by those who now respect her. The girl she was a year ago had horrible taste in clothing and didn’t not care about her physical appearance at all.

This film opening would show the teenage girl in the present being the most popular girl in school, into a flashback on the most unpopular girl in school. The storyline behind the film would be about how she was sick and tired of getting bullied. One day she finally decided to change her appearance,friends,etc… Amanda and I still need to make many changes to the film opening, but for now this is our best idea. I hope that in class tomorrow we would be presenting our ideas again in groups, because I would love to receive feedback from my peers and see what their opinions are on this film opening. I will update you guys soon!

Drama wins!

Good evening readers!

I know it's getting late but I truly enjoy doing my work on sunday nights. Yesterday I received good news and Amanda has finally agreed to the genre of drama. At first we both chose to research a lot of information on Horror, thinking this would be our genre for our film opening. But then Amanda and I completely changed it, and we have been changing our genre from horror to drama nonstop. Although yesterday Amanda and I completely agreed that we will be using drama in our film opening, and we will not be changing our genre anymore...

I am so glad that we have agreed to choosing drama, in a way I feel closure and am happy that we are certain about something. I feel that if we would have chosen horror for our film opening it would have turned out pretty bad. If we choose the horror genre we would need good props to use, with a scary place of setting, and a very unique storyline. Most horror films completely suck in my opinion, most of the storylines are basically the same or they don’t make any sense at all. I know if we did choose horror it would have been extremely important story behind it, and the storyline we considered was pretty basic. Often times horror films aren’t even scary and they end up being funny, because the film sucks so much. If Amanda and I chose this genre we wouldn’t be able to create a film opening to our full potential and I am so glad that Amanda sees my point of view on this.

Other than the whole horror situation, Amanda and I have come up with new ideas for our film opening. I will be discussing our new idea in the next blog, but for some reason I feel that I want more drama in the film. The idea is great, Amanda and I decided on it over the weekend. Although I am still not sure that this will be our film opening. We will definitely be coming up with things we will add to the film and even take away. We just aren’t 100% sure what they are yet. But anyway I will share the new idea with you guys on the next blog.

Changing Ideas

Hi my people!

I hope you guys are having an amazing day. For me today has been a horrible, I woke up late and did not study for my history test. (typical) The only thing that made me happy today was going to my aice media class, which is weird. I like aice media but not enough to make me that happy. Once I got into class today Mrs.Stoklosa told us that we would be put in groups to talk about our project process at the moment and our ideas. As I was in a group with 4 other students there film opening ideas were being told and I really liked them. In the groups we all shared our blogs and had a deep discussion about our projects. As soon as it was my turn to discuss my project I was not sure how confident I felt about the idea anymore even though the group that I was in loved it.

As I was discussing my project the people in the discussion loved my idea but their only concern was that they were worried that two minutes would not be enough to present my film opening. As we continued to talk about my idea I came to a realization that, my film opening was to unoriginal and basic. I know that I am capable of presenting something better. I immediately knew that I wanted to change it. The class was ending in about 10 minutes and I went up to Amanda right away to tell her my thoughts on our idea. And Amanda was just about to tell me that she wanted to change our idea for the film opening as well. So we agreed to changing it immediately but we still don’t know what we would like to do.

Although Amanda and I had an issue with this, Amanda wanted to change the theme back to horror meanwhile I think that the genre of Drama will be better for us. I also know that I promised some kind of storyboard to be posted today. But I lied completely because as of now Amanda and I are not sure with which genre we will be using for our film opening. Amanda thinks that horror would be so much better to do, meanwhile I am not sure on how well we can pull that genre off. We are currently not agreeing with which genre we want to present but Amanda and I have worked together on many projects before and I know we will agree on a genre soon.

Good Afternoon readers!
I  hope you guys have had a great start to the week, even though it's been pretty crazy for me. This week Amanda and I will be getting a lot of things done for our project, including our storyboard. (Hopefully we will be productive this week) Anyways the storyboard...In my opinion a storyboard is a very important step to a good film. So Amanda and I need to be sure we create our storyboard exactly how we want it. The image in our head needs to match the images on the storyboard. We have already discussed what we would like to do, but we will need to write it down with detail this time.If we are on schedule with our planning I hope that I will be able to post our storyboard on the blog by late Thursday.

Other than the storyboard Amanda and I need to keep our new genre in mind. As I did some research about our genre of Drama we need to remember to include the important aspects of it. Including a story,flashbacks,pain,betrayal, and many emotions. We must include this in our film opening, but Amanda and I have our main goal set. We truly want our viewers to be able to relate to the story that is about to be told. Our story truly challenges our audience because there are many people who feel like an outcast and truly would do anything or even change themselves to fit in better. Our story line also brings awareness to social issues that happen in young teen lives today. We hope that it represents real issues that happen on a day to day basis, and we also hope that teenagers will find a better way to deal with these issues.

Amanda and I have agreed to meeting up at least two times a week outside of school. This week Amanda and I will be discussing specific aspects for our project. This includes exactly what needs to get done in the next couple days. During our meeting we plan on talking about what snacks we want to eat before starting. But other than the snacks our main focus of discussion this week will be our storyline, we need to make sure every single clip captured in our film opening has a purpose. Other than the storyline this week's discussion will include specific days in the future when would like to film. Other than that I will be updating you guys with our storyboard! (Hopefully soon)
